Club Rules
1.
The Club shall be called The Cirencester Badminton Club.
2.
The object of the Club is to promote the game of Badminton in every possible way.
3.
The Club shall be affiliated to Badminton Gloucestershire (BG) and Badminton England (BE).
4.
The Club shall participate in the district Badminton Leagues as suggested by the Committee and voted on at the AGM.
5.
Any player representing the club in any official capacity i.e. Gloucestershire League AGM voting, must be a bona fide member of the club.
6.
Officers
The Officers of the Club shall be elected at the AGM and shall consist of:-
i.
Chairman
ii.
Secretary
iii.
Assistant Secretary.
iv.
Treasurer
v.
Club Captain
One person may fulfil more than one office.
The Officers shall form the General Committee and the management of the club shall be vested in that committee.
7.
The AGM shall be held at the end of April each year at which a financial report of the previous season shall be presented.
8.
At least 14 days notice of the AGM shall be given to each Club member together with a copy of the Agenda and the previous years Minutes.
9.
Club members only shall be allowed to vote at the AGM.
10.
A minimum of seven members entitled to vote shall constitute a quorum for the AGM.
11.
The Club subscription and match fees to be fixed at the AGM. These may be changed during the season on the proposal of the Treasurer and
duly agreed by the General Committee.
12.
The Selection Committee to be elected at the AGM shall consist of the Club Captain and 4 other members 2 Men and 2 Ladies. This committee
being responsible for the selection of Teams and Team Captains plus the organisation of club nights.
13.
Club Membership Rules.
a.
All full members of the club must be registered with BE whether they play in league matches or not and registered with BG if they are
likely to play in 3 or more matches. Once fully registered, members are then eligible to play in league matches for the club as per rule15.
b.
New, Previous and Visitor Membership Rules
i.
Prospective new members can visit the club up to 6 times as a visitor and pay a visitors fee before they are considered for full
membership (this can be waived or reduced by a majority vote of the General Committee). The General Committee must agree by
majority vote on whether a new player is accepted or refused membership. Any fees paid will be deducted from the membership fee.
If accepted for membership then rule 13 a. is applied, if refused then rule 13 b iii. applies.
ii.
Previous members who are returning to the club can rejoin without the waiting period of up to 6 visits and rule 13 a. is then
applied.
iii.
Visitors can play at the club up to 6 times and pay a visitors fee before they have to be registered with BE (and BG if they
are likely to play in 3 or more League matches). On a 7th visit the player will pay to the club the normal visitors fee, plus the fees
for BE and (if required) BG. The club will then pay the required fees on behalf of the player. On an 8th or subsequent visit, the
player only has to pay the clubs normal visitors fee. If the player then later becomes a member for that season then the BE, BG and
visitor’s fees will be deducted from the membership fee due.
iv.
A player from another club can play at the club as a visitor or become a member, subject to rules 13 b i, ii or iii. If the other club
has already registered that player with BE and BG for the current season then the fees for BE and BG are not due from this club
and the player only pays a visitor fee for each visit to the club or applies for full membership. If the player is BE registered but not
BG registered then if the player is likely to play in 3 or more matches then the BG fee becomes payable either as part of a full
membership fee or as a 1 off payment.
c.
Members joining the club part way through the season will only pay a pro rata membership fee.
14.
The chosen Team Captain is responsible for ensuring the selected team players for a match are aware of places, dates & times to meet. The Team
Captains are responsible for the recording of the match results in the team handbook (one per league team). For Home matches, the completion
and signing by both Team Captains of the handbook score sheet. This result is to be submitted on the League website the following day if possible
but within the time limits set out by the League Committee or by email or posted as a last resort.
15.
Playing in League Matches for C B C
a.
Only full club members can be nominated for the League Teams of the club if they are willing and able to do so within the rules of the
League.
b.
Full club members will be preferentially selected to play in League matches for the club if they are willing and able to do so within the
rules of the League. If there are not enough full members to play in League Matches, at the Committee’s discretionary majority vote,
visitors to the club can be asked if they wish to play in league matches subject to rules 13 b i, iii or iv and have been a visitor on at least
4 occasions. This includes visitors from another club.
c.
If C B C members are asked to play as a stand in, or as a guest, in matches for another club that they are not members of, they can do so as
long as they are not asked to play in a C B C league match first for that date and follow all League rules about playing matches for 2 or
more clubs.
d.
If a bona fide member of C B C is also a member of another club and are asked by both clubs to play in a match on the same date, said
player must decide which club they are going to play for on that date and keep C B C fully informed as to their decision.
e.
If a match selected club member has to withdraw from a match the Team Captain has the discretion to call on any full club member first,
or if a full club member is not available, then a visitor (including other club visitors) can be asked to play in the match as long as Club,
League, BE and BG rules are adhered to. Contact with the Selection Committee is only required for advice and direction.
16.
Normal Badminton apparel should be worn during Club and League games. Coloured tracksuits are permitted.
17.
Any contact details supplied to the club by members will be held for the running of the club only, and for no other purpose.
18.
Members and Visitors will be contacted via email as the first choice of communication. If a member or visitor does not have email then a paper
copy by hand or post will be used. Telephone communication will be used for emergency communication and match organisation only.
19.
Alteration of Rules. A motion to alter or add to these Rules may be proposed by any member and seconded by another member and notice thereof
must be given in writing (paper or E-mail) to the Hon. Secretary prior to 1st April. The Secretary shall include particulars of proposed changes
in the Agenda.
